Benefitting from Canon’s infamous STM motor, the RF-S 18-45mm f4.5-6.3 IS STM Lens achieves smooth, silent and accurate focusing - ideal for taking photos discretely to provide more natural results. The 7-blade diaphragm and f4.5-6.3 aperture also provide greater control over light to help you create artistic out of focus highlights and beautifully circular bokeh. With the combined focusing/control ring, you can also go manual and get closer to your subjects with a higher magnification option in MF Mode. You can capture all the finer details by getting as close as 15cm with a 0.25x magnification.

  • This lens is the perfect starter lens - it’s accessible, affordable and offers a practical 29-72mm (35mm equivalent) zoom range. It’s just the ideal lens to get you started!
  • The STM motor in the lens offers smooth and quiet AF performance. The lens also has image stabilisation - which we think is great considering the price.

    • Use this lens for:

    • Because of its size and its ease of use, we think it would be perfect for travel and family photography or even vlogging. If paired with the likes of the R10, it’s the kind of lens-camera combo you’d take on holiday when you know you need to pack light and you need something that will cater to most situations.

      • Look and feel:

      • This is a very compact and lightweight lens, weighing just 124g. When mounted on the R10, it can easily be used for vlogging and/or travel photography.
      • There’s no denying that this is a cheaper lens and with that, it doesn’t have the most premium of builds. That being said, for what it is, it does feel well built. The barrel is solid and the motion of the focusing and zoom rings are smooth.

        • Is it better?

        • This lens is clearly designed as the RF-S equivalent of the standard 18-55mm kit lens that is included with most beginner-to-enthusiast level camera bundles. We think that while it would be considered a ‘kit-lens’, you’ll be surprised at the detail it can capture.
        • As a lower-level kit lens, it’s unsurprising that it is not weather-sealed and it doesn’t come with a lens hood. While somewhat frustrating, it’s to be expected - and it shouldn’t detract from the decent images that the lens can produce.

          The Buy Now Pay Later option comprises a 36 month loan following a six month deferral period.

          During the six-month deferral period, it is possible to pay off the loan, either by way of a lump sum or in smaller amounts. If the loan is partially repaid within six months, the remaining interest will be adjusted to reflect the new balance. If the loan is fully repaid within the six-month deferral period, then no interest is payable, however, a £29 early settlement fee is payable in respect of repayments within these six months.

          Following the six-month deferral period, Novuna Personal Finance will initiate a monthly direct debit payment for the remaining duration of the loan. Interest will be charged at a rate of 18.9% APR on outstanding balances (backdated to the first date of the loan). Novuna Personal Finance will send a reminder letter approximately one month before the six-month deferral period is due to elapse.
