Nikon Developing 120-300mm f/2.8E Zoom Lens

Alongside the development announcement of the D6 DSLR, Nikon also unveiled plans to release a new NIKKOR AF-S 120-300mm f/2.8E FL ED SR VR. The world record holder for a lens with the most letters on the end of the product name. Anyone have any idea what the SR means? That’s a new one…

This focal range and wide aperture will be of great interest to sports photographers, and again underlines the importance of the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games for Nikon, Canon and Sony.

No details or specifications have been shared about the lens, nor was there any release date information or pricing. Expect to see it around the end of 2019/beginning of 2020, though, to ensure the pros get some time with it before the Olympics.

Many people forget, because it was perhaps slightly before their recent lens renaissance, but Sigma actually make a 120-300mm f/2.8 lens already.
