Canon has launched the R5 Mark II alongside its mirrorless flagship, the Canon R1. The R5 Mark II features a 45MP stacked CMOS sensor with greatly improved readout speeds compared to the original R5. The sensor has 8.5-stops of stabilization and the camera can shoot up to 12fps with the mechanical shutter and 30fps with the electronic shutter.

Canon says the autofocus performance is greatly improved over the original R5. It adopts the eye-controlled AF point tracking feature first seen on the EOS R3, and the results can be viewed through a larger, brighter 5.74M dot OLED EVF borrowed from the R3. Along with AF improvements, the R5 Mark II also adds Pre-Continuous shooting, allowing photographers to capture 0.5 seconds of images before the shutter button is pressed.
