Shimoda’s Accessory Cases are available in two sizes: Medium and Large. Both cases feature a selection of elastic cable management loops, as well as transparent windows for gear identification, AirTag pockets, and zippered compartments for smaller items. I took a quick look at both sizes in both available colors, and I’ll give you a brief overview of the features in this review.

Features and Design
Transparent Window

Each case features a transparent window that allows for quick viewing of the contents. While you can’t see the items in the internal zippered pockets, and in the case of the Large Accessory Case, what’s in the second half remains hidden, the transparent window is still useful if you have multiple cases for different types of gear and want to ensure you are selecting the correct one.

Zippered Pockets

Both sizes of accessory case feature a pair of internal zippered pockets. There is some external visibility into the left-hand pocket through the partly opaque external material.
Cable Management

Both sizes of Accessory Case feature several elastic loops for small items and cable management. The Medium Accessory Case has four loops, while the Large Accessory Case has a total of 12 elastic loops of varying size.

AirTag Pocket

Apple’s AirTags have gained popularity among photographers and filmmakers for tracking essential equipment. The Shimoda Accessory Cases both include a dedicated AirTag pocket inside one of the internal zippered pockets.
External Handle

For easy extraction from within a larger case or backpack, the Accessory Cases feature a slim nylon handle.
Conclusion
These versions of the Shimoda accessory cases update an old design with better content visibility and internal organization. If you need padded protection for your photo accessories, the Shimoda Soft Cores are a better purchase. However, if you’re looking to organize some cables and chargers in an easy-to-view, difficult-to-forget manner, in that case, these cases do a good job at a very reasonable price.
While they are sized to fit into the top section of Shimoda’s backpacks perfectly, there’s nothing to stop you from using them in just about any camera bag. In particular, the flat profile of the Medium Accessory Case makes it easy to slide into the laptop sleeve or front pocket of just about any backpack or reasonably-sized shoulder bag.
