Digital Asset Management (DAM) can be defined as highly efficient software that organises and process files whilst advocating collaboration and file sharing of your digital assets. These assets could be documents, photos or videos (amongst many other file types). Whilst it might seem easy at first to create new folders in ‘My Documents’, the more projects you create the harder it is to access and remember where they’re all stored and sorted. This is where DAM can make a huge difference to how you organise your assets to increase work productivity DAM is also important for file safety, security and …
Another quick Luminar tutorial for you guys today, and this time we’re looking at how to open RAW files. Just like Lightroom, Luminar is a fully fledged RAW photo editor but unless you open the RAW files directly into Luminar from your file browser, it can be a little confusing. If you don’t do things quite right you might end up editing a converted TIFF of your image, instead of the original RAW file. This would definitely degrade the final image quality and you wouldn’t be pulling all of the available dynamic range out of the RAW file. Luminar RAW …
Luminar from Skylum Software is one of my absolute favourite photo editing applications. You can use it as a standalone editor, or you can integrate it into Lightroom in a couple of ways. Most people are aware of the regular way in which you can use Luminar as a Lightroom plugin, but in this video tutorial I’m going to show you a second way that gives you MUCH more control over how your images are opened in Luminar, and how the edits are then organized in Lightroom. If you’re a Lumniar user, it’s a quick one, don’t miss it. If …
Adding a watermark of some sort to you images should be considered a necessity if you’re going to share them online or with potential clients. Over the years there have been many instances where new clients have come to me, having found a photo of mine on the internet somewhere. It’s not always possible to determine the copyright holder of an image from the metadata, because much of the metadata is stripped from photos when they are uploaded to social sharing websites. Having a clear watermark somewhere on your image will give you a fighting chance at being found if …
Video Tutorial Get it on YouTube here, or scroll down for the full text description. Auto Importing Photoshop Edits into Lightroom At some point in the development of Adobe Lightroom CC an important change has been made that is sure to please a lot of photographers. So far this doesn’t seem to have been reported on, and Adobe’s own online resources still teach a now outdated methodology for this particular important piece of workflow. What we’re talking about today is the process for round tripping a photo from Lightroom into Photoshop and then back into Lightroom again. Most seasoned Lightroom …
Today I’m bringing you an Adobe Lightroom tutorial in two different ways. Lightroom presets are a key component in speeding up the photo editing workflow. You can make them yourself (time consuming) or you can buy them for next to nothing from a number of different online stores. Once you’ve purchased them, you’ll need to install them, and that’s what I’m going to show you how to today – in less than 30 seconds! Actually I’m going to give you two videos. The first video shows you the best way to install Lightroom presets with the sub 30 second method, …
I recently published a free downloadable PDF guide to all the Adobe Lightroom Classic CC keyboard shortcuts, but it occurred to me that it might also be useful to have a second simpler download that was just a single printable page. The full guide is really useful, and well worth a read because it’ll probably teach you a few things about Lightroom that you didn’t even know it could do, but a condensed one-pager of the most useful shortcuts also sounds like a great idea, so that’s what I’m bringing you here! It’s not possible to memorize the hundreds of …
